Fabric
Suitable Fabric
The Serenade blouse is designed for light to medium-weight woven fabrics with a soft drape to enhance the swing silhouette. Ideal choices include linen and linen blends, cotton lawn, poplin, chambray and batiste.
For a more fluid look, viscose/rayon, Tencel, silk crepe can also be used. Fabrics with good drape will create a fluid, relaxed fit, while slightly firmer fabrics will produce a more defined shape.
Avoid heavy and stiff fabrics as they will make the blouse look heavy and rigid.
All measurements are based on a fabric width of 150cm (60”) and 115cm (45”). Fabric meterage/yardage is taken using a non directional fabric. Allow extra for fabrics with obvious nap and directional print.
Difficulty
Confident beginner.
Follow all instructions and make sure you read and understand the pattern before beginning.
Size & Fitting
The Serenade Blouse includes generous ease through the body to create the loose fit swing effect. This ensures the fabric drapes away from the body rather than clinging.
Because this pattern features an A-line "swing" silhouette and puff sleeves, choosing your size based solely on your widest measurement, may result in an oversized fit. To get the best results, prioritize your measurements in this order:
The High Bust & Shoulders Measurement: This is the most critical area for a successful fit. The shoulder seam and neck facing are designed to sit precisely on your frame to support the weight of the puff sleeves. Prioritize this if: You often find shoulders slipping off or necklines gaping.
The Full Bust: While the "swing" provides plenty of room at the hem, the fit across the chest determines how the fabric drapes when buttoned. Prioritize this if: You want to ensure the button placket remains flat and secure without gaping between button.
The Rule of Thumb: If your Full Bust is more than 5cm larger than your High Bust, choose your size based on the High Bust measurement. This ensures the neckline, shoulders, and armholes fit your frame perfectly. You can then "blend" out to a larger size at the bust and hem if you need extra room.

FAQ
How do I choose my size?
Please don’t go by your "off-the-rack" clothing size! Every brand is different. Grab a measuring tape, measure your bust, waist, and hips, and compare them to the Size Chart included in your pattern booklet. When in doubt, it’s usually easier to take a garment in than to let it out.
Can I get a refund if it doesn't fit?
Because PDF patterns are digital files that you access immediately, I cannot offer refunds once the file has been downloaded. Please double-check your measurements against the size chart before you hit "purchase."
I’m stuck on a step! What do I do?
I’ve worked hard to make these instructions "hair-pulling free," but I know that sometimes we all get stuck. First, take a breath and re-read the step. If you’re still confused, feel free to send me an email with a photo of where you're stuck. I’m a one-woman show, so I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
Can I sell items I make from your patterns?
My patterns are licensed for your personal, home use only. If you are a small maker who wants to sell garments made using my patterns, please contact me to discuss a commercial license. Mass production is not permitted.
